VBS, Jenny, Aaron, Sunrise y Internados Parte 1 (Too much to put into one blog)

It has been a week since I last posted and I will tell you now that I will try my best to not let that happen again. This week has been kind of crazy so I am going to break this week up into 2 blogs. The second part of this will be up on Tuesday. Lets start at Monday...

Monday we started Jill and David's, the people from North Carolina, VBS (Vacation Bible School) program. This last week was sort of like Spring Break for the kids so we were able to do the VBS during the day instead of waiting till after school. We had the older kids come in the morning and the younger kids do the program in the afternoon. I helped Jill and David with explaining how to do crafts to the kids and ended up being their translator for the week. That was super nerve wrecking for me. I had translated in the market and translated when people needed to ask a question, but never to a group of people trying to translate what the Bible lesson is. Most of the time I was just hoping that i was getting the point across. By the end of the week I was less nervous and I enjoyed doing it. After VBS I went and played with the kids until Jenny and Aaron, two of the four new interns that came this week, got to the orphanage. I know Aaron from school and he is good friends with my brother; Jenny is Aaron's girlfriend. I was super excited to see them and was able to make dinner for them that night. Once dinner was over I packed a over night bag and had a sleep over with Jenny in her apartment, because the other interns would not get here till Friday.

Tuesday I did VBS then I took Aaron and Jenny to the Dispensa (our Walmart here), the paint store, and the market. We went to the market first so they could see what it was like; we ended up buying some mangoes and this "purple spikey fruit" that ended up being passion fruit. Once done in the market we got their groceries and the paint needed for their project they were doing this week. We made spaghetti that night and enjoyed out wonderful fruits. All three of us have become a family and I love having them around.

Wednesday  I worked with VBS then played with the kids. Not much happened except I started to feel under the weather. I am feeling so much better now though!

Thursday was also VBS but the Sunrise Christian Academy group came and are staying for ten days. This group is from my old high school and I know most of them; they are such a fun group! We ate at Felis and Pedro's house with the group. There was another group that came that day only to stay the night who's birthday was Thursday. Pedro got one of his giant rolls of firecrackers and put it out side her room. They scared all the girls; it was funny! We also ended up getting a new girl at the home on Thursday named Juana. She is very extroverted for just being put in the home.

Friday morning I woke up to go on a hike and we had a earthquake that shook my bed! Jenny and I looked at each other in shock because our beds moved so much. After the earthquake made sure we were up we took a 2 hour hike around the mountain we are on. When we came back we finished VBS for the week by having the older kids do a drama for the younger kids. They all had fun. The drama was over then off to lunch. Thelmi, the cook, made steak, potatoes, beans, and corn which were very yummy. Once we were done with lunch the interns and David went to the market in Solola just to look around. Friday is the busy market day. We came back and got ready for the Birthday party for the June birthdays in the home. They got to have cake, open presents, and watch a movie. Jill and David after the party wanted to take the Boggs,  Patlan's and I out to dinner in Pana. We ate at a Italian place called Dos Mundos. It was really good and a interesting experience.

Here are some pictures and part 2 will be up on Tuesday!
