Aqui! (Here)

I have made it to the Eagles Nest (El Nido de Augila) and am typing this before I go to bed. I will be updating this more than I thought I would be because the adventures just keep coming! Today We woke up at 9 and had to get some grocery shopping done. I went to Walmart! Of all the places I thought I would go in a foreign country Walmart was not on that list. Let me tell you a little helpful information if you are ever in Guatemala City  do not go to the Walmart on Sunday... it is jam packed.  We got what we needed but then we had to wait an hour to check out and the air conditioning was not working. What an experience! Afterwards we started our way up to the Eagles Nest. It is a beautiful ride as you see the bustling modern city turn into what we normally think of as Guatemala. Being rainy season it rained on us most of the ride up and covered the mountains with clouds. When we got up to the Eagles Nest we could hardly see the buildings the clouds were so thick. Because of this I could not get a good picture to post up yet. I will post one as soon as I can.

When we got here I got to see where I will be living for the next couple of days and I got to meet the children. I am going to be living with the mamas in their apartment for at least two days, maybe more. The mamas are the women who work in the orphanage taking care of the children and feeding them. I have gotten to talk to a few of them and  they are very sweet and kind ladies. Now let me tell you about these children...I LOVE THESE CHILDREN ALREADY! They have such big hearts and will welcome anyone into their home. When Felis and Claire brought me to meet the children They immediately swarmed us so glad to see Mrs. Boggs and wanting to know who the new girl was. They all asked me what my name was, then they would give me their name. The second thing they would ask is what my shirt said. They knew it had words on it but some could not read English very well. I had one little boy sound out my shirt trying to figure out what it said... just so you know it says "You're a good man Charlie Brown".

It has kept raining for most of the night and has finally stopped and the clouds have mostly cleared out. One of the mamas took me outside to show me Lake Atalan. the lake that the orphanage sits on, since I could not see it earlier. the view at night is beautiful; you can see all the lights from each city. I cannot wait to see what it looks like in the morning. Okay well I have an early start tomorrow so I shall say good night for now and will post sometime in the near future.

  2. Oh I love it! I absolutely love arriving somewhere at night and seeing what lights I can, and it's another wonderful surprise in the morning to see the full view. So sweet! Just like we partially see God now, but soon will see Him totally & clearly!
